Voices for Health and Development participated in the National Quarterly Adolescent and School Health Stakeholder Meeting convened by the Ministry of Health through the Adolescent and School Health Division on 26th June 2026 at Royal Suites, Bugolobi. The meeting brought together partners to review progress, share experiences, and strengthen collaboration in improving adolescent and school health across Uganda.
The meeting attracted representatives from the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education and Sports, Reproductive Health Uganda (RHU), Save the Children, Reach A Hand Uganda (RAHU), Naguru Teenage Centre, AMREF, AU Youth Foundation, Right To Play, TICO, PSI, WEKUUME, SRHR Alliance, Women’s Pro Bono Initiative, AYADNET, ADRA, Straight Talk Foundation, Voices for Health and Development, and several other organizations working to improve the health and well-being of young people.

Throughout the meeting, participants reviewed updates from the Adolescent and School Health Division, discussed progress in implementing adolescent health interventions, and explored strategies for strengthening coordination among partners. Presentations also highlighted the national HPV vaccination action plan, implementation experiences from the SAY Plus programme, and findings from the end-term evaluation of the Baana Project, providing valuable lessons for improving adolescent health programming.
A key message emerging from the discussions was the importance of stronger coordination and accountability among implementing partners and the urgent need to improve HPV vaccination coverage through stronger community engagement, school-based interventions, and health system strengthening. Stakeholders agreed that collaborative action remains essential in protecting adolescents from preventable diseases and ensuring they have access to quality health information and services.
The meeting also presented valuable opportunities for collaboration with fellow partners implementing adolescent health programmes across the country. Through stronger coordination, timely reporting, shared learning, and joint advocacy, Voices for Health and Development looks forward to working alongside the Ministry of Health and other stakeholders to strengthen preventive health services, increase awareness of cervical cancer and HPV prevention, and improve health outcomes for Uganda’s adolescents and young people.
