On 16 July 2025, Voices for Health and Development participated in a learning visit conducted by Family Medical Point to the Rural Ambitions Development Organization (RADO) in Kampala. The visit aimed to foster learning, share approaches, and strengthen collaboration among civil society organizations advocating for sexual pleasure and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR).
Held in Katogo village, located in the Bwaise, a suburb of Kampala, the community dialogue brought together more than 200 men and women. The team from Tusitukire Wamu group also took part in the session.

Throughout the discussions, community members were encouraged to reflect on what sexual pleasure means to them individually. The diverse responses highlighted that sexual pleasure is a deeply a personal experience, it isn’t a one-size-fits-all concept. Conversations included safe sex practices, consent, and bodily autonomy.
“Whenever women say no to men’s sexual advances, they think it means yes and some of us have been raped because of this,” shared Susan, a community member. Rose Mahoro, Voices’ Team Leader, emphasized the importance of consent in all sexual relationships. “Consent must be clear and mutual,” she said. “It’s not something to be assumed or coerced, it is the foundation of respectful and pleasurable relationships,” Rose added.

As the dialogue concluded, many participants expressed interest in having monthly community engagements on SRHR topics. “We’d be very happy if such discussions happened regularly,” said Musa, a boda boda (motorcycle) rider. “And it would be even better if we could receive products like condoms and lubricants after each session. We want to protect ourselves and our partners,” he added.
