On Valentine’s Day Eve, Voices for Health and Development invited a number of journalists to a social networking event aimed at building a strong working relationships with journalists.
The event, held in Emiboozi Gardens, Entebbe, brought together media professionals from both mainstream media houses and digital media networks in Kampala and Entebbe to discuss key issues related to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights and gender equality.
The evening provided Voices with a valuable opportunity to engage directly with journalists and strengthen its partnerships with the media to advance advocacy efforts in these critical areas.
The event was attended by journalists from notable media organizations, including PML Daily, Daily Monitor, UBC TV, Uganda Radio Network, Entebbe News, Ug Bulletin, The Nile Post, and Eagle. Participants discussed the role of media in educating the public, influencing policy, and encouraging action on critical topics such as climate justice, women’s rights, and reproductive health.
Journalists at the event expressed strong interest in supporting Voices’ ongoing initiatives. Many suggested ideas for future collaborations, including media coverage of upcoming campaigns, joint awareness programs, and partnerships aimed at advocating for policy change.
The Team Leader Voices emphasized Voices’ goal of working hand-in-hand with the media to create impactful stories and conversations that challenge societal norms, highlight the importance of SRHR, and encourage action on SRHR, gender equality and climate change, saying the media’s role is vital in amplifying these important discussions and pushing for positive change.
